The integration of geothermal heat pumps into the environmental systems
serving the historic Hampton Mansion earned the National Park Service
the Baltimore Chapter’s 2008 Energy Project of the Year.
This meeting is going to feature the presentation of the Chapter Energy
Project of the Year and Energy Manager of the Year Awards.
Last May, the Baltimore Chapter membership had an opportunity to tour
the Hampton Mansion and look at the geothermal HVAC and humidity
control systems installed throughout the structure. This year we
are going to honor the historic significance of the Hampton Mansion by
providing NPS guided tours of mansion. The interior is completed and
the building is completely furnished with the historical furnishings
and pieces of artwork. The mansion has been open to the public since
the end of November 2007. The National Park Service has agreed to
provide the AEE members with guided tours of the mansion complete with
a historical narrative as we view the various rooms and artifacts. It
is beautiful inside and we encourage early registration because
registration is going to be limited so as to not have too many people
on the tours.
